SOUNDSYNQ™ ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your information when you use our mobile app and related services.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, username, profile photo, and account type (personal, business, or staff).

Apple Music Listening History

When your Apple Music account is connected and authenticated, we continuously collect your listening activity — including track name, artist, album, album artwork URL, and timestamps. This data is collected via client-side polling and server-side sync while you are actively listening to music. Collection continues as long as your Apple Music account remains connected to SOUNDSYNQ™.

Business and staff accounts are exempt from listening activity tracking. We do not collect, store, or log Apple Music listening history for accounts of these types.

Social Data

We store your friends list, friend requests, and session participation history to power the social features of the app.

Device Tokens

We collect push notification tokens, Live Activity tokens, and widget tokens so we can deliver notifications and update widgets on your device.

Shared Queues

When you use shared queues, we store songs you add, your votes, and related notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Powering listening sessions, shared queues, and listen-along features
• Displaying your listening activity to friends (respecting your privacy settings)
• Sending push notifications for session invites, friend requests, and queue updates
• Syncing music playback across session participants in real time

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate SOUNDSYNQ™:

• Apple Music / MusicKit — to access your music library and playback state
• Supabase — for database hosting, authentication, file storage, and real-time features
• Cloudflare Workers — for server-side music synchronization
• Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) — to deliver push notifications to your device

These services may process your data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

4. Your Privacy Controls

• Private Account — limits your listening activity visibility to friends only (personal accounts only)
• Incognito Mode — hides all listening activity from everyone, including friends (personal accounts only)
• Disconnect Apple Music — stops all listening history collection
• Delete Account — permanently removes all your data from our systems

Business and staff accounts do not have listening activity collected and therefore do not require these privacy controls.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including your profile, listening history, friendships, sessions, device tokens, and shared queue data — is permanently deleted from our systems.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

SOUNDSYNQ™ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated policy in the app. Your continued use of SOUNDSYNQ™ after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
